Lucy Mulli Book ClubContemplating Greatness

The Club

The book club is a space where we read the Classics: the Great Books and Great Works. We discuss the Great Ideas embedded in them. It is a moment where readers are invited to contemplate greatness, and in doing so, to absorb wisdom that elevates everyday life.

It is a space where leaders are nurtured and inspired to embrace a culture of virtuous leadership. The Great Books tradition is the teacher; I facilitate.

What makes a Great Book

Enduring relevance
It transcends its era and remains relevant across centuries.
Intellectual depth
It gives tools for logical thinking and explores profound themes.
Foundational influence
It has shaped the trajectory of literature, philosophy, art or history.
Universal themes
It asks the enduring human questions of justice, truth and the nature of life.

How the club works

Everyone who holds some position of leadership, at home or in public, is welcome. You do not need a literature degree. You need to have read the book.

  1. One month before

The book is assigned and members are given a month to finish it. I confirm the editions everyone will read from.

  2. A week before

Members receive my notes and the questions we will sit with, so the conversation starts in the middle of the argument.

  3. The session

We meet and use the Socratic method to guide the discussion. Conversations last not less than three hours.

Who is welcome

Everyone who holds some position of leadership, at home or in public.

The club is for people who aspire to virtuous leadership, who are curious about it, who want to cultivate a transformative reading culture, or who want to spend their leisure time in elevated pursuits.

It is for people who lead something, a team, a firm, a classroom, a family, and want to lead it better. You need to finish the book.

Joining

The cohorts are small on purpose, and by invitation. Open sessions are the door, and the waiting list is where the next cohort begins.

The waiting list

The cohorts are small on purpose, and by invitation. Leave your address and I invite from this list, in the order people arrived, when a chair opens or a new cohort begins.

By adding your address you agree that I may write to you about the waiting list and the club. Every letter has an unsubscribe link. How I look after your address.
